Wimbley Extended, Tatupu Visits

Kamerion Wimbley's cap figure is now more manageable. He agrees on a five-year, $48 million deal which includes $29 million in guarantees.

The signing was brought about somewhat urgently by Zach Miller's visit to Seattle and former coach Tom Cable.

With Wimbley signed, the Raiders should have enough flexibly to sway Miller and bring in an offensive lineman.

If Miller chooses to sign in Seattle, the Raiders could bring in Kevin Boss.

If the Raiders are serious about fixing the offensive line, they should return the favor and sign Sean Locklear.

Another option would be longtime divisional foe Brian Waters.

Lofa Tatupu is in for a visit. He's a good player with injury problems. It's difficult to figure out how he would fit in the Raiders 4-3 defense and may foreshadow the Raiders usage of the 3-4 more this season.

Tatupu, like Gaither, will need to check out medically. He also has a planned visit to Washington, which wouldn't mean much if the Raiders wanted to extend an offer.

    Anyone know exactly what our cap status is right now? Ideally Miller is back. If we can get Boss then I am comfortable in reluctantly letting Miller go. Great servant that Miller has been I think our receiving corps is better equipped and Campbell will be better in the system meaning we don't need the production from Miller in receiving. What we do need is run blocking something Miller has never been stellar at and something Boss definitely does  better if nothing else. The O line continues to worry me. Worryingly only Locklear and possibly Mike Brisiel are out there as free agents who could possibly give us an upgrade.

Oakland Raiders' Studs and Duds From Preseason Week 1

Preseason Week 1 Players to Peruse

[embed]http://gty.im/459756040[/embed] The Oakland Raiders season officially kicks off Friday night. Unfortunately, it's preseason. Fortunately, there are still plenty of things to watch. It seems like this every year, but this truly is one of the most interesting Raiders teams in years. For starters, there is a lot of young talent. Unlike past years, there is also plenty of veteran talent that isn't over 30. While all eyes will be on first-round pick Amari Cooper, there are at least a half-dozen other players Raiders fans should keep a close eye on during the game. D.J.
