Mock Draft 1.0

I started a interactive mock draft on Twitter, but it sort of fizzled out at the Raiders pick and with the start of March Madness.

I neglected to fill out a bracket this year so this gives me plenty of time to finish what we started.

.
Pick Team Player Pos Notes
.
1 St. Louis Rams Sam Bradford QB If you don’t have a QB amd you have the opportunity to select the best one available, you do it and ask questions later. The Raiders are still asking these questions.
.
2 Detroit Lions Russell Okung OT The Lions need to protect the investment they have in Stafford and Johnson. They could go DT here, but an elite LT is a safer pick no matter how highly touted the DT.
.
3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Ndamonkung Suh DT The Bucs could go with either DT, but Suh’s versatility and more impressive workout numbers woo the Bucs young coaching staff.
.
4 Washington Redskins Jimmy Clausen QB Shannahan and Bruce Allen have avoided the big splash so far, but to get the developmental QB right off the bat while rolling with Campbell for a season is smart.
.
5 Kansas City Chiefs Eric Berry S Chiefs have holes all over the place, but having recently drafted a DT and OT in the first round they go with the stud safety who will them shut down Zach Miller and Antonion Gates.
.
6 Seattle Seahawks Gerald McCoy DT Seahawks need to build from the middle. McCoy’s fall is a boon for the new Seahawks leadership.
.
7 Cleveland Browns Joe Haden CB Holmgren and Mangini both attended Florida’s pro day. Rumors were that they could be looking at Tebow. Those rumors were probably started to throw teams off the scent. They like Haden. Sergio Kindle could also be a cannidate.
.
8 Oakland Raiders Dan Williams DT Boom or Bust Player. Al Davis seems to love them. He also watched him quite a bit, having watched and cheered for Lane Kiffin’s demise at Tennessee. He could prove to be the best DT in this draft in time. He is a stud Nose Guard the Raiders desperately need to shore up the run game. The recently departed Warren was the only veteran at the position. The projected starter at the moment is Desmond Bryant. Don’t rule out a trade up for one of the top two DTs by dangling a player and a pick.
.
9 Buffalo Bills Anthony Davis OT Great physical traits for an OT. Bills need line help and they have choices at 9. Bulaga is the likely fall back should the new regime be scared of Davis’ off-the-field concerns. Normally the Bills aren’t ones to worry, but Marshawn Lynch could have them thinking otherwise.
.
10 Jacksonville Jaguars Jason Pierre-Paul DE Jaguars had so few sacks last season, the owner even felt it neccessary to comment on the situation. Teams love JPP because he has a huge upside. This is the florida link not named Tebow.
.
11 Denver Broncos(from Chicago) Dez Bryant WR You gotta believe Brandon Marshall is going to be traded at some point before the draft. Even if he isn’tm Dez is supposed to be this year’s match to Crabtree, or better. Broncos need offensive weapon or Orton will be unable to survive another season.
.
12 Miami Dolphins Sergio Kindle OLB Kindle provides this defense with exactly what they need against Brady and Sanchez. Pressure.
.
13 San Francisco 49ers Trent Williams OT One of the weakest offensive lines in football gets another good OT to pair with Joe Staley.
.
14 Seattle Seahawks(from Denver) CJ Spiller RB The Seahawks lack playmakers. They are one of the slowest teams in the NFL. They seek to change all that by selecting Spiller.
.
15 New York Giants Rolando McClain ILB They needed a LB and McClain fell to them. Classic Giants player who may lack elite speed, but has good instincts.
.
16 Tennessee Titans Sean Witherspoon OLB Titans have a couple holes, DE is one. Dunlap’s free fall will continue because he didn’t workout as well as expected. Witherspoon is widely liked, but his name has been quiet because teams like him.
.
17 San Francisco 49ers(from Carolina) Taylor Mays S The 49ers really need help in the secondary. Mays instantly becomes an impact player for them. With Larry Fitzgerald in the division, Mays size in the middle can be put to good use.
.
18 Pittsburgh Steelers Bryan Bulaga OT They wanted Iupati, but Bulaga falls due to concerns about his short arms.
.
19 Atlanta Falcons Carlos Dunlap DE The Falcons need help off the edge. The new culture in Atlanta is now ready to take on a troubled star like Dunlap.
.
20 Houston Texans Patrick Robinson CB The Texans have huge needs in the secondary. A talented underachiever in Robinson might be a good fit for a defense needing some boom to go with a lot of bust. If he busts, he should fit right in.
.
21 Cincinnati Bengals Derrick Morgan DE They lacked a pass rusher last season. While Morgan isn’t elite, he can help without sacrificing too much against the run.
.
22 New England Patriots Kyle Wilson CB Playmaker with understated abilities. Perfect for the Pats.
.
23 Green Bay Packers Vlad Ducasse OT Shoring up the line in front of Aaron Rodgers is going to be very important. C/OG Pouncey could also factor in here.
.
24 Philadelphia Eagles Brandon Graham DE Eagles lacked a true pass rush threat last season and they hope Graham is that guy.
.
25 Baltimore Ravens Golden Tate WR Ravens need receivers for Flacco as teams will stack the run if the Ravens don’t have enough weapons to be a true threat.
.
26 Arizona Cardinals Mike Iupati OG Cardinals have a major need at LG. If Iupati can learn fast enough to be the starter.
.
27 Dallas Cowboys Earl Thomas S Cowboys didn’t expect Thomas to fall, but the homegrown product will fill the Cowboys biggest need.
.
28 San Diego Chargers Ryan Mathews RB The Chargers need a RB now that LT is gone. Mathews is getting a lot of attention as he could be the best all around back in this draft.
.
29 New York Jets Demaryius Thomas WR Weapons for Sanchez are going to be important and Thomas could be a steal this late.
.
30 Minnesota Vikings Maurkice Pouncey C The one week spot on the Vikings line is filled with this stud Center. Not flashy, but safe solid pick for a loaded team.
.
31 Indianapolis Colts Jared Odrick DT Colts struggled mostly against the run in 2009. Odrick will help anchor their defense.
.
32 New Orleans Saints Everson Griffin DE Saints could use help at LB or DE. They opt of Griffin due to lack of comparable talent at LB.

One thing I noticed was that the elite TEs were not selected. This is possible due to health concerns and considering every team that possibly needed a TE had bigger pressing needs and other top rated players were available.

This could make my whole mock out of whack, but how accurate is a mock anyway, right?
