Oakland Raiders Bloggers Staging Twitter Debates

Two Raiders Bloggers: Many Possible Topics. I am pleased to announce that I have teamed up with RaiderTake to bring to you a set of Raiders twitter debates. He is a good Raiders blogger, much like myself. You can visit his blog at http://raidertake.blogspot.com Here is the format. Each response must be 140 characters or less. If we have left over characters the hashtag #raiders will be put at the end of each tweet. Because my username is one character longer. I will self impose a 1 character penalty. RaidersBlog: Question RaiderTake: Argument RaidersBlog: Rebuttal RaidersBlog: Argument RaiderTake: Rebuttal RaidersBlog: Conclusion RaiderTake: Conclusion A total of 7 tweets per topic. All agreement can be stated, however, we must take the opposite side of each issue. If you are following us on Twitter. The easiest way to follow the debates is to follow our conversation. I am trying to come up with a solution to posting it to the blog. If I figure it out I will also give Rai

Mario Henderson Signs With Drew Rosenhaus

Been a while since I posted a blog. This is the slow time of the year. Most players are on vacation and there really isn't much action until July when training camps open up. The biggest news I can come up with is that Drew Rosenhaus announced via his twitter account that he has signed Raiders OT Mario Henderson. Tweet 1: "We are pleased to announce that we have signed Mario Henderson, starting left tackle of the Oakland Raiders as a new client." Tweet 2: "Mario is a rising start at his position and we are excited to work with him. He is a FSU alum and played high school ball at For Myers." This is interesting for a couple reason. One, Rosenhaus made a point to call Mario the starting left tackle. Two, Rosenhaus said Mario is a rising star. These are normal kinds of things for an agent to say. However, Rosenhaus has an uncanny ability to spot NFL talent. He may even have scouts working for him or he knows a lot of talent evaluators. Either way, Rosenhaus d

The Pros and Cons of Michael Vick

Michael Vick was released today. Is he a fit in Oakland? I outline the pro and cons. Pros: -He is still a physical freak -He can run the wildcat -He is versatile -He has nice arm strength -He can be had for cheap -Raiders don't mind the PR circus Cons: -The collection of PETA members in the bay area will swarm the training facility. -He may have lost a step or two -He isn't an accurate QB -We don't need another person to run the wildcat because we have McFadden and Bush -He is a PR nightmare -You might alienate a small part of your ticket buying fan base by signing him. Conclusion: I don't think he is a good fit, not because of the off-the-field issues, but more because of the on-the-field ones. He just doesn't have a place. Not even at backup QB. I do think he could make an impact on a team with a statue QB looking for someone to run the wildcat. The west coast would certainly be more favorable because the media circus would only last for a short

Charlie Frye Becomes #6

Did we hire Jon Gruden to be the Head Coach? All of a sudden we have six Quarterbacks on the roster. Charlie Frye was officially added to the roster today. So now we have a glut of QBs and not the slightest idea why? The short: Gradkowski wasn't wowing people, Walter wants out. Southwick was a longshot. Frye might actually have a chance to make it as the third Quarterback based on these scenarios. Time will tell, but that QB group might be a crowded place come OTAs.

Twitter

Now that you may have received a taste of what it happening on Twitter you should be compelled to join and follow me. If you haven't joined by now you aren't going to. I'll leave the Twitter sidebar on my homepage and occasionally on a high traffic day or really interesting day post Twitter summaries, but it wont be every day. This is partly because of the fact that I don't want to wear out my crowd with Twitter related content here and partly because I can't stop the endless circle of blog posts and tweets created by two different applications that carry out those functions. Still, I beg of you, Twitter was practically made for sports. Come and follow me .
