While the details are still unfolding on Javon Walker apparently getting robbed and having significant injuries in Vegas. I just wanted to chime in on the situation.
I think it is terrible that something like this happens in society, and it seems like we always want to blame the NFL player the victim of such crime.
It isn’t Walker’s fault this happened, but he didn’t use good judgement.
I remeber seeing an interview with Walker about how he had learned his lesson after Darrent Williams died in his arms. You would think the guy learned not to make himself a target for this type of crime. Anytime you go to a nightclub in Vegas an drop $15,000 you have to expect some low lifes to take notice. When your a high profile athlete, you have to take precautions like having body guards when you go to nightclubs or just not going at all. You also have to learn to lay low. The guy was on stage spraying Dom Perignon on the crowd. That is terribly stupid for the guy to do. What makes him think he should then be alone ANYWHERE after that.
Walker may have learned a lesson, he learned to ditch his entourage to avoid getting shot up in a car, but he didn’t learn that is wasn’t smart for him to drop $15,000 spraying the crowd with champaigne from the top of a stage with the club spotlight focused on you.
Hopefully Walker is okay, but it just goes to show you how stupid some of these athletes can be. I only pray that he is okay and he also has learned the whole lesson this time.
CNNSI was the first to get the contract numbers. NFL.com, ESPN, PFT, CBS, etc all have yet to post anything as of now.
Anyways, its great to see this thing get done early. We made some rookie mistakes at the bargaining table last year, and this year made up for it.
It is about what I expected us to pay him. What else is there to say…Live Press Conference Tomorrow at Raiders.com. Wow, I hope you guys are excited about this year as I am.
Some of you may have heard the Sports 1140 interview with Tim Brown live from Fred Biletnikoff’s Charity Golf Tournament. Freddie B was interviewed as well and even JT the Brick stopped by to chat. Also, I believe there was a Steve Wisnewski sighting off air.
Tim Brown seems to think that Russell is still two years away from being fully developed and that he could struggle this year. That said, Tim Brown said that when he played he did things to help his developing or weak QBs (Lord he knows better than anyone). IF his QB didn’t throw a certain pass well he ran routes that played to their strengths, etc.
Let us pray that Javon Walker and Drew Carter have that kind of attitude. Tim Brown is a class act, we can only hope any of the players we have are half as classy as Tim Brown.
Mini-Camp starts tomorrow, check back for all the late breaking Raiders detail and analysis.
Odell Thurman isn’t really the type of guy the Raiders or Kiffin wants on the team. Good talent, but just not worth the trouble.
Lamont Jordan should have been cut already, if he shows up to camp, the Raiders have a malcontent hanging around our young RB core. That has got to end. Jordan should be gone by tomorrow…will he…anyone can guess.
Travis Henry got cut…and half of the single promiscuous women in Denver cried and promptly put their Prada bags on eBay for some extra cash.
